- Frenchy and the Punk doing what they do best!
Things are continually moving in the world of music and this week is no exception. Reports from various directions including soul singer Anita Baker, the Steam Powered Giraffe, and French favorite bands Frenchy and the Punk from New York and Victor Sierra in Paris.
In Detroit a warrant was issued for soul music’s Anita Baker for shirking a bill on her home and then ignoring a court order. Ray Smith Painting and Decorating has a claim against her for over $15,000. She failed to appear before the judge and so a bench warrant was issued on the dispute that a prior order had been in place for her to pay $15,351.41 back in April, 2011. Jokes about whether or not she is giving the best that she’s got aside, the hopes and prayers of many fans are with her for a swift resolution to her current crisis.
- Is the Steam Powered Giraffe is losing the heart and soul of the band?
Word has come down from San Diego that a fan favorite, Michael Phillip Reed has announced he is stepping down from the band Steam Powered Giraffe and is out on his own. Mr. Reed is know as the One Man Band for his diverse talents in music instruments as well as for his standing out among the group by being able to blend into the background. While other members of the band wear metallic makeup and perform as Steam Powered Robots, Mr. Reed is a quiet, plainly dressed, smiling, music machine in man form. He is known for his sweet, humble nature, and quiet enthusiasm.
- Michael Phillip Reed is stepping out on his own but fan’s hearts go with him
He is often seen on the fringes of things such as when he was leaning behind the pillar to hide from the audience while obviously geeking over the Abney Park performance at Her Royal Majesty’s Steampunk Symposium in January. Best wishes to Mr. Reed and hopes that the Tin Men don’t lose heart.
Word of a potential French Invasion with Victor Sierra from Paris campaigning to come to the Steampunk World’s Fair this May. This awesome, steampunk band needs your help to catch an airship to the states and become part of the experience at the Steampunk World’s Fair.
- Frenchy and the punk with Corena Gibson and Lesley Scott at HRM Steampunk Symposium
Another great group, Frenchy and The Punk have a kickstarter to produce the follow up CD for their hit, “Hey Hey Cabaret!” With five days to go their campaign is over the top and going for more. If you don’t have it already, check out “Hey Hey Cabaret” and kick in on their kickstarter.
